| What is Camtasia Studio?
Camtasia Studio is a very intuitive tool for creating attractive application demonstrations and presentations. It gives the professional edge and quality in video production that is designed to prepare you for your every need. By using the Camtasia Recorder, you can capture moving action on your computer screen and save it as a computer video file. This software is a five application in one: Camtasia Recorder, Camtasia Producer, Camtasia Effects, Camtasia MenuMaker, and Camtasia Player. Each of these applications can be easily opened from the Camtasia Studio LaunchPad.
Recorder which records all or any portion of the screen, records mouse clicks and keystrokes, allows zooming or panning the capture frame around screen, records audio input from the PC microphone, and add time stamps and text captions to videos plus a host of other effects. Recoder certainly shows the heritage of still and video capture that TechSmith has learned.
Producer is the studio for editing the videos, splicing in new AVIs, adding narration and a second sound track as desired. Producers drag and drop editing of timeline objects coupled with its non-destructive editing (video and sound clips are hidden until replaced or overwritten make trial edits and revisions very fast.) Effects is the part of Camtasia Studio that allows users to place in captions, drawing highlights, imported GIF or JPG stills, etc. MenuMaker is a small studio for creating and packaging the final output in any of the major formats: standalone, web, or special components enabled.
Camtasia Player is a simple, standalone video player for Windows. It is designed to guarantee high quality playback of your Camtasia Studio videos. Camtasia Player always plays back videos at 100% of their original size so that they remain readable. It also has the TechSmith Screen Capture Codec (TSCC) built into it, so you don't have to worry if your users have the TSCC installed or not. For advanced video playback, command line options are provided which allow Camtasia Player to be invoked in various ways from CD-ROMs, multimedia authoring tools, and scripting languages or batch files.

Using Camtasia Studio's timeline and storyboard, you can then assemble your video, add and edit the audio and video tracks, and add callouts.
